Controlling Consumption

Information overload is in full force. I’m sure you have heard the saying, “You are what you eat,” in regards to the way the food you eat impacts the body you have. Most of the time you can physically feel or see the impact of what you consume. It is concerning when it starts to represent a lifestyle that is unhealthy, but oftentimes you are aware of the physical changes.

This is why irresponsible information consumption is terrifying. You don’t get to witness the impact on your brain of what you consume. It will slowly creep around in your mind until it manages to steer your thinking, your beliefs, and your habits. Slightly veering off course for a short distance is hardly noticeable, but over a long period of time, you can find yourself far from the path you once knew yourself to be on.

This is why you need to be so aware of who you follow on social media, who you take advice from and what you watch. Nothing in the world of consumption is without impact, and don’t fall into the trap of it being “harmless.” The same way you control what goes into your body, you control what goes into your mind. The eyes are the windows of the soul, and it absorbs it all.
