I respect a gut instinct. Thirty years ago a gut instinct may have been all you had. Now that gut of yours is off the hook on being held accountable to that final decision. Let your gut serve as the fire that is lit to get you started down a path, and then allow numbers, data and analytics to help affirm that path or tell you to turn back before it’s too late.
Saying, “This just feels right to me, so we should do it” without any other data driven affirmation will not only worry the people you’re telling it to, it dates you in a business leadership position. There are plenty of tools out there to help carry the burden of wrong or right. Stop assuming because your gut tells you something, that it is the right and only path to take.
