Movement Not Motion

Leadership requires movement, not motion. Often people mistake motion for movement. Busy. Unfocused. Cluttered. They all make us feel like we’re moving. A boat has motion with an anchor down.

If you are going to lead you need to ask others to follow you somewhere, whether to a physical location or to a company goal, you need movement to something. The world has enough empty, uninspired motion, it doesn’t need more. Quit rocking in the harbor, let the sails down and get to sea. The Sea Lions can find another deck to camp on.
